Halo Hair Salon
Social Media Management
Halo Hair Salon is a busy salon in Malton, North Yorkshire, with a talented team and a wall of awards to show for it. Their Instagram, though, was doing a fraction of what it could. imaginatif took the account over in September 2024 and rebuilt what Halo posts, so the salon reaches the people who don't already know it, not just the ones who do. Amy, the owner, hasn't had to think about content since.

Halo's Instagram was run the way most salon owners run theirs. Before and after photos, posted when there was a spare five minutes, nearly all of them showing the back of a finished client's head. Good work, photographed well, but that was the whole account.
The problem wasn't the quality. It was the ceiling. Photos of finished hair speak to people who already follow Halo and already know the salon. They rarely travel further than that. What Amy needed was an account that reached new local people, without Amy having to become a content creator on top of running a salon.

The first thing to change wasn't how often Halo posted. It was what Halo posted. The very first video was a simple walk around the salon, showing people the room they'd actually be sitting in. From there the account moved from a single format to a mix: the team, the atmosphere, the day to day, the moments that make Halo feel like a place rather than a portfolio.
The reason is straightforward. A before and after is a closed loop, seen mostly by people already in the salon's orbit. Content with people and personality in it behaves differently, reaching well beyond the existing following. One video built around a running joke in the salon, nobody being able to find the foot pump, was seen 5,900 times, against a few hundred for a typical hair photo. Same salon, same audience to start with. The difference was what was in the post.
The work runs on a light footprint for Amy. Sophie films at the salon for an hour or two every month or so, which covers the weeks that follow, and Amy sends over anything she catches herself. Everything after that, deciding what to use, editing, writing captions and scheduling, is handled. Amy cuts hair. The account looks after itself.

The account passed 1,000 followers in February 2025 and has kept climbing steadily since. Reach across a typical month now runs into the tens of thousands, a strong figure for a single-location salon serving one town.
The result Amy values most doesn't appear in the analytics. People find Halo on Instagram and message the salon directly to book. The account stopped being a place to file finished work and became a way new clients arrive. And it happened without adding a single job to Amy's week.
Sophie is very approachable, fantastic service, and she is always happy to help. Everything I ask is never an issue. Imaginatif took creating media in my business and posting on all my social media off my hands. Videos and content created and posted daily, which enabled me more quality time.
